Pet Beds: To help freshen pet areas or to prevent odors, spray on pet beds, or bed linens. Allow to dry. Barns: Spritz in chicken coops, barns, horse stalls Calming Spray: Spray in the air near your pet. Spray on the dog collar. For cats spray onto a small towel or cloth and leave in an area that your pet normally sleeps. Allow your cat to choose if it wants to lay on the towel Coat/Fur: Lightly spray hydrosol on the animal’s coat and then groom as usual. Alternately spray Love Your Pet Lavender Spray on to grooming brush before use. Add to natural shampoo: Add 2-3 oz hydrosol to 5-6 oz natural shampoo. Shampoo as usual. Dog Flea & Tick Prevention: Fleas: Spray directly on to the animal’s coat. Ticks: Make sure to spray just prior to your pet being outdoors. Minor skin irritation: Use to clean and treat small cuts, scrapes, and irritations. Apply directly to the area.
Remember, each animal has a unique medical history, personality, as well as likes and dislikes. It is important to honor your pet’s preferences. If they don’t respond positively discontinue direct use on your pet and if using on beds or linens make sure to spray at a time when your pet will not be in the area and wait an hour before having your pet return.
Don’t trap your animal with a scent. Use in a well-ventilated area and make sure your pet can leave the room if they want to.
WHAT IS A HYDROSOL?
Hydrosols are the condensate water that is produced as a result of steam distillation of plant materials to produce essential oils. Hydrosols contain only the water-soluble components of the plant, they are non-volatile by nature and have a low odor intensity. Hydrosols are perfect for pet care as the chemical components are highly diluted and act more akin to a homeopathic remedy, providing gentle yet effective results and the low odor intensity does not overwhelm your furry companion’s acute sense of smell.
“True therapeutic hydrosols free of preservatives, alcohol, stabilizers and properly handled are a healing boon for animals of all kinds and are virtually the only choice of aromatic substance to use on cats. Their low odor intensity and non-volatile nature means they are not overpowering to animals, especially cats with their acute sense of smell.” Suzanne Caddy – From Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals by Kristen Leigh Bell
